Positive Energy Districts are not just areas that produce more renewable energy than they consume. They bring together energy efficiency, renewable generation, decarbonised mobility, digital solutions, urban planning and citizen participation, creating an integrated approach to neighbourhood transformation. ASCEND elevates this ambition by placing climate neutrality and urban orchestration of individual aspects at the centre of this concept.
The key message for cities is to think about upscaling and replication from the beginning, connecting local interventions with wider energy, mobility and urban strategies, and making successful approaches easier to adapt, replicate and deploy across Europe.
