Finding the right EU programme, funding opportunity or source of expertise can be difficult, particularly for smaller and medium-sized cities navigating a growing landscape of initiatives and support mechanisms. The European Urban Initiative has launched the Cities Helpdesk, a new service designed to give cities a clearer entry point into the EU urban support ecosystem.
Launched on 14 October 2026 during the European Week of Regions and Cities, the multilingual service provides personalised, human-led assistance in three areas. Cities can receive help identifying relevant knowledge and case studies, guidance towards appropriate EU funding opportunities, and matchmaking support to connect with peers, networks, partners and expertise.
The Cities Helpdesk forms part of the EU Agenda for Cities and is implemented by the European Urban Initiative. Available through Portico and the EU Cities Portal, it aims to make existing European support easier to navigate and help cities identify practical next steps based on their specific urban challenges.
