Munich, a Lighthouse City in the ASCEND project, recently received the EU Mission Label for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
This award was presented at the European Week of Regions and Cities 2025 in Brussels and recognizes the successful development of Munich's Climate City Contract. This contract was co-created with citizens and stakeholders and supported by the NetZeroCities platform.
The designation provides access to investment opportunities through the Climate City Capital Hub, EIB advisory services, and a €2 billion lending envelope, further solidifying Munich's role in advancing climate-neutral urban transformation.
Munich is among 103 cities that received the EU Mission Cities label which also include ASCEND cities Lyon, Budapest, Porto and Stockholm.
