The Driving Urban Transitions Partnership has opened its 2026 call, providing around €49 million for transnational research and innovation projects supporting climate-neutral and resilient cities. The call covers three Transition Pathways: 15-minute Cities, Circular Urban Economies and Positive Energy Districts. Under the PED pathway, applicants can address the adaptive reuse of urban structures, PED solutions in private housing, and the integration of flexibility and technologies within sustainable local energy systems.
Projects are expected to run for up to three years, with most requesting around €1 to €2 million in total funding. Consortia must include at least three funded partners from three participating countries and involve at least one urban government authority. The first-stage deadline for submitting pre-proposals is 17 November 2026, followed by full proposals for selected applicants in April 2027. For cities and organisations working on PEDs, the call provides a direct opportunity to build on existing experience while testing new approaches to implementation, integration and replication.
