The schools of ASCEND’s Positive Clean Energy District in Porto, Portugal, are already producing renewable energy from photovoltaic solar panels.
With an overall installed PV capacity of 53.68 kWp, these three facilities will produce around 75 MWh/year of renewable electricity, avoiding the emission of 19 tons of greenhouse gases per year.
However, this is just the beginning of a large-scale renewable energy community which will be implemented in Porto’s Positive Clean Energy District.
During the months of December and January, training sessions will commence in the schools, including both informative presentations as well as activities with the children.
