The City of Prague, a Multiplier city of ASCEND, has registered for the 5th cohort (2026–2027) of the NetZeroCities Twinning Learning Programme, a peer-learning initiative bringing together Twin cities with Pilot and Mission cities, that is built on a mutual knowledge exchange, learning and replication.
The 12-month programme connects “Mission-minded” and “Mission” cities through workshops, one-on-one collaboration activities, and two site visits. Participants work together on concrete climate actions, with a focus on scaling solutions and developing joint replication or action plans .
In total, 24 cities have registered so far, with matchmaking activities scheduled in April and at the Cities Mission Conference in Torino in May 2026. The programme will begin in September 2026, and the paired cities will be announced in summer 2026. The goal is to pair 10 Minded-Mission cities with 10 Mission cities.
The motivation behind Prague's participation is to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030, achieve net-zero by 2050, and to implement its Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan, supported by governance structures, energy efficiency, renewable energy, low-emission mobility, and circular economy measures. The city joined the EU Cities Mission Twinning Programme to exchange knowledge, test solutions in real urban contexts, and adapt proven approaches to accelerate local climate action.
