Our partners at the Smart Cities Marketplace are supporting Guimarães, Vila Real, Torres Novas, and Almada in the advancement of their local energy transitions with their technical assistance programme. The initiative focuses on setting up energy communities that integrate solar installations on municipal buildings, enabling collective self-consumption and boosting energy efficiency and resilience.
With expert guidance, the four cities are assessing technical requirements, financial viability, and potential savings to ensure sustainable and scalable solutions—joining Multiplier City Porto in the journey toward a sustainable energy future. The project also explores funding options and aligns with Portugal’s national framework for renewable energy communities, helping municipalities navigate regulatory pathways and foster inclusive participation.
