On 9 April 2025, Eurocities hosted a public webinar showcasing the city of Dresden as a Lighthouse City in the NEUTRALPATH project, part of the Scalable Cities community. The session focused on how Positive and Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs) are helping cities advance climate neutrality through clean energy deployment, community engagement, and integrated governance models.
Speakers included project coordinator Cecilia Sanz, Dresden city coordinator Anh Minh Vu, Prof. John Grunewald (Dresden University of Technology), and Luke Bojčev (Smart City Manager), who shared insights on technical solutions, citizen-led innovation through the Climate Neutral Lab, and Dresden’s PCED pilot sites.
The event also introduced NEUTRALPATH’s replication strategy and invited cities across Europe to join the City Alliance and Community of Practice—platforms designed to foster knowledge sharing and collaborative learning.
With its focus on practical implementation and multi-level collaboration, Dresden’s work offers ASCEND cities a valuable reference point for shaping inclusive, locally grounded energy transition pathways
