Loudden
The city will use its knowledge, built through other European PED projects (Cities4PEDs in Loudden Trans-PED in Hammarby Sjöstad), to organise workshops to exchange experiences with Lighthouse cities and Multiplier cities. In addition, Stockholm will leverage the consortium's expertise to decide which potential energy systems (SP1, 2, or 3) can be the best solution for the Loudden district to become a PCED. Stockholm will also be active in creating a city alliance in Sweden.
The city will test the following SPs:
- SP1: open data platform with front-end input capabilities for citizens; district energy management systems; digital monitoring infrastructure; KPI Engine,
- SP2: new services and business models approach for energy communities;
- SP3: serial refurbishment; building energy management systems; new construction as NZEB; standard PV on roofs, self-consumption and storage in a local and regional grid;
City Alliance Network Workshop
On September 3-4, around 70 energy strategists, energy and climate advisors, architects and process managers from around 20 cities, authorities, architects, the energy industry and academia gathered in Stockholm to discuss how we can together accelerate local solutions in energy sharing, energy efficiency and energy production. All to contribute to a faster, fairer and at the same time resilient climate transition in cities.
The event discussed, among other things, energy communities and local energy transition from a Swedish and international perspective. The participants also listened to two case studies and heard more about the energy authority's network and initiatives for local energy transition. Lisa Enarsson spoke about the City of Stockholm and the ASCEND project.
There were also study visits to Norra Djurgårdsstaden and Hammarby Sjöstad. Norra Djurgårdsstaden is one of the largest development projects in Northern Europe. During the study visit there, the participants received information about, among other things, plus energy houses, mass logistics centers, construction logistics centers, sustainable transport solutions and the plans for hydrogen storage in Loudden as part of an energy positive district. (PED positive energy district).
In Hammarby Sjöstad, the economic association ElectriCITY operates approximately 30 test beds with a focus on energy, transport, circular economy and digitalization. Together, they have developed an energy community with local energy production in different properties that are shared between the properties. They have also developed an efficient electric car charging system. During the study visit, the participants heard more about ElectriCITY's journey.
The event was initiated through the ASCEND project by the City of Stockholm and was arranged together with Viable Cities, Järfälla Municipality, White architects and the Swedish Energy Agency. It took place within the framework of the work with the mission on climate neutral cities and the EU initiative Driving Urban Transitions (DUT) that supports this mission. Within DUT, the event is linked to the Positive Energy Districts transition track.
